Being self made means people believe they have access to you and your resources.
They don’t.
All aspects of The Fray and other works coming will be handled by Aby One, which cuts out a lot of extra foot work.
While I’m a fan of the enthusiasm this person was showing, I’ve also fallen victim to people who try shoving what they can offer in front of you, just so they can be attached to you.
Unfortunately, a formal email would have been better. Or a message. Commenting on my content for the entire world to see was unprofessional and screams desperate. While I am a pioneer of my profession, none of what I do or what Aby does is free.
The next issue is his disappointment. If I’m correct, there are apps and companies meant for his goals – he should have a page set up and look for listings. Not scour TikTok for a popular writer, and beg to have a spot.
Next to this – someone else’s hard work isn’t for everyone else to jump onboard with. I don’t want outside help that comes with ulterior motives. Many people have simply just helped me – and I would do the same.
I hope this is a lesson for him. You can’t go around asking to be included in an already plotted out production because it’s independent. A lot of hard work went into The Fray and other projects that will follow.
