Hot. Covered in lace and taffeta. Stunning, someone said.
I was wearing four inch platform white boots, a spiked crown tiara, and a chip on my shoulder.
Colfax isn’t a fun street, but the Basilica is so beautiful…we had to do a shoot there.
The photographer arrived a little late, she parked too far away, and didn’t realize it. I had already been swarmed by compliments.
“You look so bad ass! Why are you dressed up?”
“For photos,” I explained.
My nerves calmed down as we discussed where, how, poses. I loosened up when someone stopped at the light, rolled down their window and shouted,
“You look so good! I love it!”
“Thank you!” I was trying to be serious.
Click click, click click.
“Fuck yes girl! Kill it!”
Now I was grinning.
A few more people screamed compliments. Then we wrapped things up and left. I was able to get a glimpse of the photos and had a great time – as did she.
And that’s when it hit me as I walked home.
I had fun. I did something I’d been wanting to do. I didn’t care who saw. I wore what I loved. It wasn’t the compliments or the free photoshoot…
It was me living in the moment.
