The End of Pointlessness

I watched a woman craft three books and an owl for a lighter cover – the entire time, my eyes hovered over her left thumb nail, as her name was neatly scrolled on it.

It’s to keep someone from stealing it and trying to claim her content as their own. That will always be the case.

In 2012, I released Anguished Immortals, and a good friend caught someone who tried to copy the first book word for word, then tried to sell it. The person in question later came to me, pretending she’d sold 300 copies of her own crappy work (which for the average author isn’t realistic). This after she claimed she was broke.

I did the math for her. Her book was set at $7 a copy after Amazon took out, which means she would have $2100 after sales.

Recently, things have changed online and I’m here for it. Remember my post about Instagram changing things around? The influencer culture is dead.

A woman complained that she lost 300k followers amidst all of the madness. People responded with – no one can afford your lifestyle. How luxury items and coffee became content will forever boggle my mind. How did we come to that?

The content that does well for me is my art, crafting, books and music. And then my quirky shoe collection. Sometimes jewelry does well. All items are affordable 😅 I like mixing and matching.

I also do my own nails. People want to see other people doing human things. Maybe it’s the times, or perhaps we are finally waking up and realizing how much crap is really out there.

I’m delighted. Good content will finally get seen. Small accounts reach more people with less packaged bullshit. Mega influencers and celebrities alike are “worried” and think Meta should do more.

Why? Cats out the bag.

Every popular influencer I’ve seen has no originality. None. They cosplay characters they didn’t create themselves. A lot of them end up on drugs or overdosing. I’ve had two popular influencers try to rip content from me, and not give any credit, in which case…I blocked them. How did you become popular if you can’t even think for yourself?

The call has been answered. I’d rather watch someone crochet Invader Zim…than watch someone go on another vacation. The world’s been explored enough.

Perhaps it’s time to use our brains, and not someone else’s work for once. It will still happen. My videos are not downloadable off of Instagram. I’m pretty sure someone is using my pictures as themselves lol. Almost certain someone is trying to pass my art off as theirs.

What’s sad is…if you did something yourself…you’d realize how freeing it really is. But you don’t want to…
