You’re one click away from sending that email – or not.
I did not realize I’d get spam emails from up and coming writers hoping to get thrown a bone. I’ll be honest – I thought people stopped doing that. I was signed up by a writer who I do not know personally…to preorder a book with no notion. When you Google search my pen name or The Fray, the results are amazing. But it leads to my website. And apparently, that’s an invitation to email me about nonsense.
I didn’t respond, unsubscribed and moved on.
This morning? Someone with a marketing scheme came in to tell me the book could have better reach. I responded with all important factors that lead them to reach out in the first place. Why are you trying to sell me something I’ve already accomplished?
Being popular makes you a target. When I was younger, it was overwhelming! I hated it, and the way I felt lessened how much work I was going to accomplish. I was worried.
We often go through things to teach us lessons. Not everything deserves your attention. A lot of people are willing to sacrifice their soul to shine as bright as someone else. That also is not worth it.
This price of success is that you’ve accomplished something, AND everyone wants to sink their teeth into you.
This should be fun!
