Being deeply rooted to your work makes it seem like artists are mad.
I knew Aby may have chosen Bleeding Stars and Paper Hearts, I could feel it. During the times I was writing that saga, it felt a certain way. It as very difficult to complete the third and fourth novel because of the people in my life.
I returned to edit the third novel in 2022, and felt a different type of feeling. It was healing and needed.
When I look back on my work, most of it is dark, and horror themed. It was done habitually, and obviously that hasn’t changed.
I had a little obsession with angels, which may not have gone away. From The Anguished Immortals Trilogy to Stained Waltz, it was something I needed to do. No, there are no angels in The Fray, but I do have two works that need finishing, where angels are littered on every page.
It reminds me of when I realized everyone was pretending to be goth. I was even told how much I wasn’t, even though others from the goth community welcomed me as their own, without hesitation. It is a way of life, not something you do because it’s “cute.”
I will always have love for the macabre, graveyards, eerie churches, dark angels, and the insistent need to love the darkness. I didn’t want to call it anything.
It’s just how I am.
