My Favorite Person

Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

When I was in my later 20s, I was in a horrendous relationship that ended poorly.

During those times, my mother said the worst things she could think of. Out of respect, I typically did not respond. But I was wounded.

Though he is no longer physically with us now, my grandfather did everything in his power…and that was to listen and not judge me.

He never judged anything I said or did. And he offered me advice full of love and understanding. He never laid ridiculous expectations upon my head, and I believe without that love in my life, I would have perished under my own pressure.

I know this post is about one person, but I have to list another. My aunt.

If love was a woman, it would most certainly be her. She kept my painful secrets, she respected my decisions. And she too, offered advice without judgment. I sincerely hope everyone has a chance to have someone in their life that just loves them simply because.

You’re are exactly right, having someone in your life like that changes everything. They make the world a better place, honestly. Compassion is hard but needed.
