The hysteria behind fashion has always tickled me – here and now reading materials used on high end items and realizing my Amazon finds are much better has me in stitches.
Gold plated brass…is brass with fine metals on top. And literally nothing more. The gold will wear off because it can be rubbed away by friction. Unless the metal is filled or the actual metal itself…it’s just the same as gold plated jewelry from Target
Gold plated stainless steel is far better. Stainless steel doesn’t corrode the way brass does.
I looked on Tori Burch’s site to find a gold plated brass bracelet going for $150! The bracelet featured in the above photo is stainless steel, and was received for my honest review. It is also not Burch and only costs $15.
The disillusion that high end and luxury are the same has gone too far. Luxury can be simple but solid…and lasts. Like Carrara marble, or genuine leather. And neither item mentioned needs to have a name slapped on it for it to be good quality or last a while.
It’s a gimmick – call it what it is. I have always felt this way.
My next rant is about Italy and France taxing and fining SHEIN while they have their supposed custom made, high end bags and other goods made in China. At least SHEIN is charging reasonable amounts of money for items they know are cheap. When will Italy and France admit their luxury goods are made in China, and priced that high because the zipper was attached back home?
Do not fall for the hype. Be your own person, love what you do without the need of acceptance from people who are easily fooled and should wear NPC shirts so we can keep track of them.
There’s more – Chanel has the same methodology with “precious” metals. I did some more digging and came across similar styles glasses with the chain, where the metal is plated. But the sunglasses are $800!

It is better to do for yourself, and love what you have and where you are in life. Instead of worrying about how someone views you because you don’t own the latest high end garbage.
