I have more satisfaction in doing my own beauty regimens.

Humans are vain – as am I. But I didn’t want to slave away at a 9-5 simply to get my nails and hair done. It’s actually very silly.

I began at the age of 15, with everything. Hair, nails and make up. I learned to do it myself. Later on in life, I picked the skills back up because they were there…I learned them and they did well for me.

And then I realized it was in the realm of my control. If I don’t want to be dolled up, I don’t have to be. There were many moments when I just couldn’t bare anything extra, but I knew I could go back to it.

Doing for yourself is a luxury – not having someone else do things for you. It is a freedom.

And it is also a choice.
