Recently, I came across a gorgeous content creator, who is considered “curvy.” Without giving too much of her identity away, we’ll keep it at that.
Her dresses are well made, ranging from forest fae to woodland witch. No matter what she wears, it always looks amazing. I am impressed and often heart her reels when they pop up.
Unfortunately, many don’t feel the same.
“Why would she show such expensive dresses that I CAN’T afford.”
“She’s gatekeeping. Who has this kind of money?”
Someone pointed out that if she pushed fast fashion, people would still complain.
Let this be known, women with curves (large hips, breasts, etc) cannot wear fast fashion. It doesn’t sit right, for one. Two…it’ll last one or two wears. Which is very disheartening.
Lastly, with the materials being cheap…it causes toxic waist. I have always shopped at full figured shops (like Fashion to Figure, or Torrid) there are other favorites, like Arula and Ivy City. The brands listed start at $100 or more for their dresses and jeans. They’re made of quality materials, fit perfectly and last a very long time!
To suggest someone should buy cheaper items you can afford means you seek to lower them to your level. You can say that isn’t the case…but there are ways to obtain what you need. Thrift shops, clearance and sales are some of those ways…instead of bashing someone for your own inconsistencies.
Learning to sew, as well.
And all around…being happy with what you have.
Jealousy is ugly on anyone.
We’re too far in time to comment negatively because we don’t have something. Do better.
