I often look for unique and elegant prices of jewelry, and oftentimes, I am disappointed. My tastes are eccentric, borderline insane, and elegant. And I am a firm believer that how you represent yourself is your understanding of yourself.

Play in Velvet continuously popped up in my Instagram feed, and when I finally followed them…I never regretted that.

(Not big on following companies – this is a woman run small business)

Firstly, she creates pieces for everyone. From whimsical to heady and elegant, there’s something to be had for each persons tastes. The jewelry, meant for “play time” is crafted in such a way that pieces can be worn outside of said events. They’re eye catching, feminine and well made. I’m on my way to order another martingale choker soon.

I made the unfortunate mistake of sharing my purchase before arrival (something I did with Melted Kitten Creations…the pink martingale you see) and both companies saw a huge influx in sales.

Melted Kitten Creations rolled back their rose gold martingale chokers because of supplier mishaps, and Play in Velvet changed the production time from 6-8 weeks to 6-10 weeks (when you’re popular 😂) I do not regret that at all, the wait was definitely worth it.

Small business purchases hit different. I’m not sure anyone else can compete. My s/o purchased a choker from another small business, and honestly, I don’t see any other way. (I’ll post about that purchase soon!)

I’ve never been big on cookie cutter designs, and I’m glad Play in Velvet exists. Look out for photos with me adorned with their graces!
