Recreating What Designer Means

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

While waiting for a nameless someone to follow through with a promise, I decided to take on sewing and designing my own wardrobe. Fed up with ill fitting “curvy” sized garments, I set out…blindly, to accomplish my goal.

From crocheting, hand sewing, and experiments in between, I came up with an eccentric, well made, versatile and comfortable wardrobe that will last me a while. From cotton fabrics, chiffon to faux leather (most items on clearance) I really enjoyed myself.

My ultimate favorites are the feather pieces I’ve made, then a pearlescent faux leather bodice with chain detail that was sewn hand. I also made scarves, matching jewelry, handbags, and a duster to compliment everything.

Oftentimes, I was blessed that not only was there a sale…fabric would be on clearance.

It was a lot of fun, but I reached a period where I felt I have enough, so I’ve stopped for a while. I am more so crocheting a pink sweater as we speak, and I have other projects to finished for loved ones.

I’m happy that the quality of fabrics used allow my garments to last a while – that was a major goal!
