I was confiscated by how the performance would be. Nervous, even. I paid for a set in the mezzanine area – balcony, second floor. The first time I entered this opera house, it took my breath away. It was my daughter’s 8th birthday, and we went to see the Nutcracker as a family.
I remembered that on my way to the Ellie Caulkin’s opera. Walking in and being stunned. At the time, though, I was six months pregnant with my youngest and on the verge of preeclampsia, unfortunately. My mind wondered if that’s why I was so dizzy.
Thankfully, this time, I was healthy and drama free.
The concession stand had wine – I did not indulge. Being alone and sober is best. My seat was perfect, and I brought my glasses.
I received many compliments on my close to periwinkle hair, and lilac coat. That’s why I wore it, right?
The show began, I turned my phone screen down, and on vibrate. And I began grinning to myself. I was outside of my house, enjoying a ballet performance…away from every trouble the ever followed me.
And it was worth it. The choreography, costumes, stage design. All of it was as sumptuous as the storyline of Casanova itself. The performers did such an excellent job, it was breathtaking, honestly.
I’m glad this consumed my day. Here are a few pictures and videos that I could gather. Photography was not allowed during the performance!
I will be viewing the Colorado Symphony in April for my birthday! I can get used to this!
