French Press

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

Mr. Coffee and Keurigs are fine (Keurig mystery unlocked- use ground coffee…not filter packs 🤢)

But a French press seems so…not American. Clearly, it’s in the name, and I have often found other fellow Americans unaware of what a French press is.

My café seems less tampered with, brewing this way. It’s also less footwork and…less waste. It was economically driven on me in my later 20s and I congregated the idea past that. There were times I didn’t have space or money to replace a broken coffee maker. And a French press was affordable, easier to use and easier to store.

It was invented in 1852 by Henri-Otto Mayer and Jacques-Victor Delforg, then later in 1929, a more modern version was patented by Attilio Calimani and Giulio Moneta.

I thank all four gentleman for considering the general population. Coffee machines become horrendously gross over time, as do Keurigs. The upkeep and waste is astronomical, and I am someone who tries not to over do things, as best I can. (I’ve written more than five of my eleven novels on a phone!)

I considered other items to post about, but I just consumed my morning cup…saucer and all.
