A Dark Fantasy Novel

What have you been working on?

Since the end of May, I’ve been writing a new manuscript.

It is my longest one yet, involving vampires, werewolves, elves (and a few humans).

It is titled The Fray, and I am quite proud of it. There’s a preview here on my blog site.

It begins with the marriage of a werewolf to an illegitimate halfling vampire named Nia. Miguel, said werewolf takes her on…and her secrets, hoping to keep her safe. But it ends up a bigger mess than he bargained for.

I am on chapter 26, close to finished. Between views for the preview, making new friends, illustrating and not being able to fit all of my material in a 100k novel, I am thoroughly excited. This novel is different. There will certainly be a second novel, possibly a third!

The major focus is on character choices – Latino and Afro-Latino. I am Afro-Mexicana. Some passages took research, others I knew certain things by heart. But it’s breathed itself to life, and I’ve received accolades from those who have read it and are close or acquaintances.

One person in particularly shares my posts on Threads whenever she sees them. The support has been unreal. Another has asked when it will be released, and is settling for other fantasy novels I’ve published in the meantime.

I don’t have an exact date, but it will release in June 2025.

One last bit…two publishers have eyed me. One I turned down, the other…I submitted a query letter to. I’ve also accumulated more followers who are fellow writers. I have a plan in place, so I’m not settling.

If anyone tells you otherwise, they are a fool – it took a decade to master my craft. And it will take the rest of my life to enjoy it! I’ve had so much fun not being serious, focusing on character build up, context and visualizations. I’d rather build a community.

Below is the preview for my manuscript, The Fray
