Is This Even A Surprise?

What is your favorite genre of music?

I listen to almost all music. For example, my favorite soundtrack is from an international film named Lagaan. I could listen to it all day. Next to that, is the soundtrack for Monsoon Wedding – completely different style!

But ultimately, my favorite genre is classical. I have listened to renderings of the greats, my favorite being Johanna Sebastian Bach and Claude Debussy. Currently, I am obsessed with Elegie in C Minor, Op. 24, performed by Sheku Kanneh Mason, a British cellist.

I’m not huge on lyrics, as oftentimes the song may not make sense or be to my benefit or my children’s benefit. When I started my writing career, I chose to listen to Neoclassical because it brought me to Alternative Classical.

That road led to David Garrett. Between the genres I adore most, there’s a tie between Brian McKnight (R&B) and David Garrett. I love his renditions of Vivaldi (Vivaldi vs Vertigo being my most loved) and his absolute need to be a rebel in his earliest years as an artist, considering his past (if you know you know).

Classical sets the tone for most anything, since my days are mostly spent being a mother and creating. Background noise with speaking is often annoying and distracting at times, where as with Neoclassical and Alternative Classical…I can get lost.

However, I do appreciate most types of music. I will listen to something once. If I don’t like it, I move on without the need to judge it. Music is amazing to me.
