How do you practice self-care?
I am extremely glamorous and have been told I enjoy luxurious items as if they are hard to acquire.
They are not and I challenge the fools who said as such. Let’s liven the mood of my blog today – I am tipsy (from red wine of course!) and just about finished laundry.
For self care, I take “luxurious” bubble baths. Body soap solution of course, lavender oil, jasmine oil (hats off to you if you’re aware of the relevance to this) and rose petals I’ve saved from bouquets or dried lavender.
However eloquent and prissy this may sound, it is all related to my spiritual and metaphysical beliefs. I also often bathe in moon water collected during the full moon. My next goal is soaking my gemstones meant for me in water and adding those to my baths.
This is a ritual for me. It cleanses my aura, it cleanses my senses…it’s invigorating and much needed. I light candles. I burn incense. I recite spells, specifically meant for protection and self care.
The world melts away, and for however long I am soaking, I am more worthy than I sometimes feel.
On top of that, I also eat well and exercise – that’s due to having lupus. I have a severe clotting disorder alongside that. Eating better, exercising…reminding myself that it’s not for weight loss…but to be there for my children…that’s ultimate self care as well.
Here’s something no one really talks about as to why. I dress to entertain my preteen self. This is huge for me because that is the age I realized how much adults lied…and it was the age I was forced to “grow up.” So I prance around in cat ears, I wear tea party dresses, and I take no one seriously, at least out loud. I exude creativity with every breath, and refuse to do anything not related to the previous stated action.
