Currently working on lilacs – using pinks in some areas. I have seen pink meshed with lilac…lilacs. So why not?
I love spring, as I was born about the middle of it, and so I will always be enamored by the season. Last year, I painted sakuras. That was fun, and I wanted to try probably one of my favorite blooms. They are fleeting, blooming mid/late April to early May. Once the temperature rises, they fade away.
The smell is sweet, inviting and calming. I can’t think of a better fragrance – I’d love to be lost in lilacs.
I also love the colors! From periwinkle, to pale purple and depending on temperatures and climate areas…lilacs can oftentimes have certain hues of pink mixed in.
I can’t think of a better flower to represent my birthday actually, and my favorite time of year. Mid April through May…it’s absolutely gorgeous. The trees have just about gotten their leaves, irises started blooming as well. It’s fragrant, the weather is perfect…the hues?
Enchanting.
I’ll posting more progress once this illustration is done!
