🥀A Rose🥀

Things have finally slowed down – not a huge rush of followers, interviews or people attempting to be my friend. I know the next wave is coming, and I’m bracing myself…because I don’t want to be swept away.

I am very pleased with the work I have done. The Fray reads beautifully, and I often find myself daydreaming about it.

In the beginning of writing, I had two sets of characters, and felt I’d go with the flow. The novel itself is a decent length and I knew more characters – pivotal characters…were needed.

One of my favorites to think on is named Monica Ramos. In her case, she is more like an anti-hero. Solely here to check off her list before she makes it to the main target. Within this, she has trouble realizing she may have bitten off more than she can chew, no matter how much fun she’s having with taking down bad wolves. And ultimately, her choices will shape the future of the man protagonists.

I thought – she ought to be exquisite but absolutely lethal. Strong minded, and ruthless. In comparison to a rose. And some of you may say…a rose is a flower. But have you ever tried picking one? Seems like a simple analogy…but a rose minding its own business isn’t really thought of as lethal or dangerous until you attempt to disturb where its resting…and decide to pluck it. Not only are the stems extremely tough…the thrones on a rose bush can draw blood.

So with Monica’s character development, I wanted to hint at a rose, in plain view of everyone…and every single individual ignoring the consequences when they attempt to pluck her.

I’m very excited for the release of The Fray, I’ve never had so much fun writing a novel before.
