On my way to do research, I came across a disgruntled review of a reward program through an app I use.
The goal set is to obtain 10k views, over 10 videos, during the course of 5 days. The content has to be original, as well.
We live in a copy and paste society – also, people become viral for the dumbest reasons. Originality has seemingly lost its spark.
If you pass the quota, but your content is “bro head” in nature, the app won’t pay out. If you’re half naked, or overly suggestive. Same face, same song, same pose….it’s a little difficult to take you serious.
There are artists and creators…then there are people who want to be famous and rich.
Fame and fortune don’t always include creation and originality. I’m not selling my soul for either. So the goal for the reward isn’t viral, mindless videos. I feel the world is appreciating creativeness more.
I often times post my art, crocheting and sewing projects…as an example of creativity. Costumes, cosplays, and beyond would probably suffice as well. It’s sharing and inspiring others – not fame seeking.
The world has enough celebrities.
It’s fun to get noticed for a little while, but complaining online that your 300 million views didn’t get paid out lets us all know…you didn’t deserve to get paid. That’s a very self entitled attitude to have really. It’s sad as well.
I am fortunate for the extra traffic, and extra views. But I also like to sleep through the night, and watch my favorite shows. My popularity doesn’t dictate my comfort.
Occasionally, someone reminds me that the human race has a long way to go!
