I recently came across a post on Instagram that pointed out what’s truly wrong with the entertainment business.
It very simply said, “when you charge money for art, it actually loses its value. It was never intended to be monetized.”
Everyone is scrambling to make money from their well done oil paintings, and digitally franchised stickers…and it is now a cesspool of crap.
Originally, I was going to charge for a subscription service to enjoy my music, around $1, to be reasonable. Instead, I will feature a song…once a month, at no charge to anyone.
I have no desire to allow the entertainment business to thrive off of hard working people who have lost their way. Money is truly the root of all evil.
It gives people the impression that they are entitled to something they didn’t create, simply because they paid for it. And it gives an artist a lost cause. The creation process and result are payment enough. Hoping to make millions or pay your rent is insane.
Others are suggesting art should be a job, completely debasing the true form of art.
It is of creation, it doesn’t need payment. “It would be for one’s efforts.” You’re supposed to be creating! You don’t get paid for what’s technically a primary function.
The world is lost. Maybe the little shink of light I offer will help it see.
